Bougainville - Jeanne Bare and Philbert Commerson are the botanists who documented this plant during the naval expedition (1766-1769) led by Antoine de Bougainville. Women were not allowed on expeditions at that time. Jeanne took part in the tour disguised as male and became the first woman to circumnavigate the earth.
